Joplin, May 31 (THAINDIAN NEWS) 29 people are still missing after the deadly tornado that hit Joplin left at least 146 people dead. The authorities in Missouri say they have so far discovered the remains of the 146 people but they are not sure that is an accurate figure.

Missouri Department of Public Safety Deputy Director Andrea Spillars fears that some of the dead have been counted twice or more. Spillers said most of the 232 people who were initially listed as missing have been found alive. The next challenge for the Federal Emergency Management Agency is to get accommodation for the thousands of people who lost their homes in the storm.

Officials of FEMA propose that they will build temporary homes within 55-mile radius at the place the storm struck for the survivors. However if that proves to be inadequate, they will bring in trailers to house the rest. When Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans, FEMA brought in trailers for some of the people whose homes were destroyed by the storm. Some of the survivors still live in the trailers which were provided, six years after the disaster struck.

FEMA proposes that the temporary housing will be available for Joplin victims for a maximum of 18 months.
