27 missing as ferry sinks off Tonga
August 6th, 2009 - 5:11 am ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Wellington, Aug 6 (DPA) A ferry sank late Wednesday off the coast of the South Pacific island nation of Tonga, the New Zealand Herald reported Thursday.
Fifty-two of the 79 people on board have been rescued in the search launched by New Zealand’s Rescue Coordination Centre.
A life raft and 27 people were still missing, the Herald reported.
