260 new graduates join Afghan National Police
December 15th, 2011 - 8:08 pm ICT by IANSKabul, Dec 15 (IANS) More than 260 new graduates Thursday joined the Afghan National Police (ANP) after completion of training, a top official said.
The graduates were trained at a police training centre in Wardak province, 35 km from Kabul, Xinhua reported.
“A total of 264 newly-trained policemen were commissioned to ANP on Thursday in Dasht-i-Toap police training centre in Wardak province, and are ready to be deployed to any province across the country,” said training centre commander Jalaluddin Khan.
The policemen were trained for eight weeks.
The government and the NATO Training Mission in Afghanistan have stepped up efforts to train local policemen and army ahead of the withdrawal of foreign troops by 2014.
