23 killed in Peru bus accident
July 3rd, 2009 - 10:09 pm ICT by IANSLima, July 3 (EFE) At least 23 people were killed and 31 injured when two passenger buses in which they were travelling collided head-on in Peru’s southern Puno region, officials said.
The accident occurred at around 7.45 a.m. Thursday in the Santa Lucia district, some 1,000 km south of Lima, the police said.
The injured were rushed to hospitals.
The police have identified 14 bodies so far.
The accident occurred after one of the drivers lost control of the vehicle, officials said. It was not immediately clear how many people were on board the buses.
