20 injured in Sri Lankan prison clash
January 24th, 2012 - 6:58 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Colombo, Jan 24 (IANS) A total of 20 people were injured when guards and inmates clashed Tuesday in a Sri Lankan prison near capital Colombo, said an official.
The clash broke out after a protest by a group of prisoners, Xinhua quoted Sri Lankan Prisons Commissioner P.W Kodippili as saying.
As per initial reports, the prisoners were furious over the poor quality of their meals.
The protest went out of control and 20 people, including 19 prisoners, were injured in the ensuing clash.
