April 18th, 2011 - 12:54 pm ICT by ANIBeijing, Apr 18 (ANI): Nearly 17 people were killed and 118 injured in a hailstorm that ravaged a south China province.
Gales as strong as 45.5 meters per second, accompanied by hailstorm and lashing rain, battered cities including Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhaoqing and Dongguan on Sunday, Xinhua quoted province’s flood control headquarter spokesman, as saying.
The victims were mostly killed by walls and work sheds collapsed in strong wind, as well as objects that fell from buildings, he said.
The provincial government has dispatched a team of relief workers to the affected area. (ANI)
