Bogota, Jan 26 (IANS/EFE) Anti-drug police in Colombia have destroyed 17 cocaine laboratories in an operation targeting the drug trafficking infrastructure of a rebel outfit in the jungles of the country.

The laboratories belonged to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, said the head of the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the National Police, Gen. Luis Alberto Perez.

The three-day operation in Guaviare province was supported by two aircraft and 22 boats. Authorities seized 692 kg of coca paste and 13 tonnes of other materials used to manufacture cocaine.

At least 10 people have been arrested.

Around 3,000 hectares of coca cultivation have been destroyed in an anti-drug campaign in the state launched this year.
