Dec 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It must have been very hard for Sabrina Parker’s family and friends to accept the death of the teenager who lost her life to the fatal disease of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis on Sunday. Sabrina Parker was the youngest patient to have been suffering from ALS which is also known as ‘Lou Gehrig’s Disease’. The 16-year-old breathed her last at the Duke University Hospital. ALS is a disease which usually has its victims aged from 40-70 years.
Friends and family remember the 16-year-old as a mature strong willed individual who never lost her high spirits inspite of being affected with such a critical disease like ALS. Sabrina Parker had everything a normal person craves for in life, except for that fact that she never wished to bid adieu to the world so early. The disease which caused her death has been traced in the family tree. Sabrina Parker is not the first one to have died due to it. Her mother Melissa Kay Parker, too died of ALS when she was only 24-years-old. Ever since then Sabrina Parker was raised by her grand parents Noland and Zelma Parker. Sabrina Parker even had the adorable company of her boyfriend Matt Scozzari who had a constant presence during the last stage of her life.
Her grandfather Noland Parker said that he remembers how the little child grew up into a lovable and matured individual who fought with her life till the end. According to sources close to the deceased, the girl loved to listen to music and play softball. She did almost every thing that the other normal kids do. She mustered the courage to battle the disease while never losing her positive outlook, a fact that caught every one’s attention.
