15 die in China factory fire
August 23rd, 2011 - 3:36 pm ICT by IANSBeijing, Aug 23 (IANS) Fifteen people were killed Tuesday in a fire at a ceramics factory in south China’s Guangdong province, authorities said.
The fire broke out around 6.15 a.m., engulfing a building of the Shengfeng Ceramics Company, said Sun Jiangmin, an official.
Thirteen people were killed in the blaze and two people died after jumping from the four-storeyed building, Xinhua quoted Sun as saying.
The fire started on the second floor and quickly spread to other floors.
Over 100 firefighters battled the blaze for about two hours before it could be contained.
