14 die in Baghdad bombings
October 12th, 2011 - 2:25 pm ICT by IANSBaghdad, Oct 12 (IANS) At least 14 people were killed and 59 wounded in car bomb attacks in Baghdad Wednesday, authorities said.
“A total of 14 people were killed and 59 wounded by the attacks on three Baghdad police stations,” an interior ministry source told Xinhua.
The first attack occurred at about 8.20 a.m. when a suicide bomber drove his explosives-laden car into the entrance of al-Elwiyah police station in Baghdad’s central district of Karrada, killing four policemen and a civilian.
The second attack occurred almost simultaneously when a suicide bomber rammed his car packed with explosives into the checkpoint of another police station in Baghdad’s northwestern district of al- Hurriyah, killing three policemen and three civilians.
A third attack took place when a booby-trapped car parked outside a police station exploded in Baghdad’s southern district of Eilam, killing three people.
A total of 59 people, including policemen, were wounded in the three attacks.
