14 die, 40 hurt in Pakistan roof collapse (Lead)
November 23rd, 2010 - 4:11 pm ICT by IANSIslamabad, Nov 23 (IANS) Fourteen people, including 10 women and a child, were killed and more than 40 others were injured when the roof of a house collapsed in northwest Pakistan Tuesday, a media report said.
The accident occurred in the Jorre area of Buner district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the Online news agency reported.
The victims had gathered in a house to condole with a bereaved family when the roof collapsed.
Most of the 50 people who had gathered at the house were sitting on the roof.
The injured were rushed to hospitals in Buner and Dagger. The doctors said 13 critically injured people were shifted to Peshawar.
Buner deputy police officer Falak Naz has confirmed the accident. The rescue operation is in progress.
