13 tourists killed in New York accident
March 13th, 2011 - 10:29 am ICT by IANSNew York, March 13 (IANS) At least 13 people, many of them Chinese tourists, were killed in a tour bus accident in New York City Saturday, deputy mayor Patricia E. Harris said.
The bus, carrying 31 to 33 passengers, skidded and hit a sign pole on the Interstate 95 highway. The sign post sheared off the bus top along the window line.
Police said the bus had left Connecticut in the morning and was heading to Chinatown in Manhattan, according to Xinhua.
Harris told a press briefing eight people were in critical condition.
New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the victims were between the ages of 20 and 50.
