13 killed in Afghan suicide bomb attack
November 20th, 2009 - 7:00 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Kabul, Nov.20 (ANI): At least 13 people were killed in a suicide bomb attack in the western Afghan city of Farah on Friday.
Reports said that a suicide bomber riding a motorcycle killed the 13 people, including a police officer, and wounded 30 others in a busy city square.Several children were among the wounded in the incident.
Afghan police shouted “Stop! Stop!’ at the motorcyclist before he detonated the explosives.
Provincial governor Rohul Amin was quoted by a news agency as saying that the deadly blast occurred about 55 yards from his compound.
Friday’s attack came a day after Afghan President Hamid Karzai said that he would do his utmost to end insurgent-related violence in the country. He also said that national reconciliation would be at the top of his peace-building agenda. (ANI)
