13 die in Turkish prison fire
June 17th, 2012 - 7:28 pm ICT by IANSIstanbul, June 17 (IANS) A fire in a Turkish prison has killed 13 prisoners, Xinhua reported Sunday.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the died when a fire engulfed the jail in Sanliurfa city late Saturday.
The fire started after some inmates set their bedding ablaze during a fight in a ward.
The prime minister said he would order a probe into the possibility that the ward could have been overcrowded.
