12 suspected Bangladeshis arrested in HyderabadFebruary 18th, 2008 - 12:01 am ICT by admin
Hyderabad, Feb 17 (IANS) Twelve suspected Bangladeshis were arrested from a train at Secunderabad Sunday. The Hyderabad Task Force police picked up the youths from the Gorakhpur Express when it halted at the Secunderabad railway station on its way to Bangalore.
Panic prevailed at the railway station as the policemen in civil dress entered a passenger compartment, picked up the youths and took them away to an undisclosed location.
The policemen acted on a tip-off that some Bangaldeshis were travelling on the train to Bangalore.
The police officials were interrogating the suspects to find out whether they were linked to any terror group.
The arrests were significant in view of the recent arrests of three alleged militants in neighbouring Karnataka. They included a youth from Hyderabad, suspected to be involved in last year’s bomb blasts in the city.
Two near simultaneous blasts at a park and an eatery here had claimed 44 lives on Aug 25 last year. Earlier, a blast during Friday prayers at the historic Mecca Masjid on May 18 had killed nine people.
