110 militants surrender in Afghanistan
August 25th, 2011 - 7:57 pm ICT by IANSKabul, Aug 25 (IANS) A total of 110 militants surrendered to the Afghan government Thursday, an official said.
The militants, led by Mawlawi Abdul Hadi, laid down their arms in Badakhshan province, around 315 km from Kabul, provincial administration spokesman Abdul Marouf Rasikh told Xinhua.
He said their surrender would improve the security situation in the region.
Militant leader Mawlawi Hadi vowed to defend peace and stability and also called on the government to accelerate the rebuilding process and provide job opportunities to the people.
