11-year-old Kiwi pupil proves men can multi-task just as well as women
August 28th, 2010 - 6:06 pm ICT by ANIWellington, Aug 28 (ANI): An 11-year-old Seatoun School pupil has scientifically proved that men can multi-task just as well as women.
Holly Blakely decided to put men, women and children to the test to find out just how good they were at multi-tasking.
“I know people say ‘men can’t multi-task’, but I thought there would be no difference between genders,” Stuff.co.nz quoted her as saying.
Holly developed the experiment as part of the school’s science fair, in which pupils were asked to carry out a scientific investigation into a subject of their choice.
To test whether people could carry out two tasks at the same time, Holly made participants - girls and boys aged between 10 and 13, and men and women between 20 and 60 - listen to a story on headphones while matching up coloured shapes on a desk.
The story - which she wrote - contained facts, figures and dates and she later quizzed the participants on how much they remembered.
She said she was not surprised to discover that men and women were equally good at multi-tasking and marginally better than the children. (ANI)
