11 get death for Baghdad attacks
January 19th, 2012 - 10:41 pm ICT by IANSBaghdad, Jan 19 (IANS) Eleven people convicted of carrying out deadly attacks in Baghdad have been sentenced to death, Xinhua reported Thursday.
The Presidency Council Thursday approved the punishments issued by Iraqi courts for their involvement in the deadly attacks on the finance and foreign ministries in 2009.
At least 97 people were killed and about 580 others were wounded in the bombings in August 2009 near the two ministries.
According to the Iraqi law, death penalties must be approved by the president and two vice presidents.
