10ft “Crabzilla” put on display in UK!
February 12th, 2010 - 5:10 pm ICT by ANILondon, Feb 12 (ANI): A Japanese spider crab, said to be the biggest ever seen in the UK, will be displayed at the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham until the end of March.
The crab, nicknamed Crabzilla after the science fiction monster Godzilla, has a basketball-sized body and measures 10ft from claw to claw.
It is expected that the crab, which was caught by fishermen in the Pacific will eventually grow to up to 15ft.
In spite of its huge size, curator Derek Scales is not afraid to pick up the crab.
“He’s not aggressive. So the other crabs in the tank should have nothing to worry about,” the Daily Express quoted him, as saying. (ANI)
