10 Yemeni soldiers killed in chopper crash
February 15th, 2010 - 6:12 am ICT by IANSSana’a, Feb 15 (IANS) Ten Yemeni soldiers were killed when an army helicopter crashed into a military vehicle in the country’s northern Saada province, Xinhua reported.
The accident took place about 240 km northwest of the capital Sana’a.
The helicopter went down from a height of about 50 meters and hit a military vehicle in the mountainous Kahlan region Sunday, the ruling party said on its website.
Four soldiers onboard the helicopter and six in the vehicle were killed.
Saada has witnessed sporadic battles between government troops and Shia Houthi rebels since 2004. The two sides reached a ceasefire agreement that came into effect last Thursday.
