YSR’s son, widow lead in by-elections
May 13th, 2011 - 11:08 am ICT by IANSHyderabad, May 13 (IANS) YSR Congress party chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy was Friday leading in the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency while his mother Y.S. Vijayalaxmi was ahead in the Pulivendula assembly by-elections.
After the end of the second round of counting, Jaganmohan led by 28,000 votes over his nearest rival M.V. Mysoora Reddy of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Vijayalaxmi was ahead by over 5,000 votes against her brother-in-law Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy of the Congress.
The by-elections, caused by their resignations, were held May 8.
It is the first test of strength for the son of late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy after he quit the ruling Congress and floated the YSR Congress.
