Youth rapes mentally challenged Dalit girl
May 4th, 2011 - 12:42 am ICT by IANSJind (Haryana), May 3 (IANS) A youth has been booked here for raping a 20-year-old mentally challenged Dalit girl, police said Tuesday.
The youth, identified as Sukhbir Singh, is absconding.
According to the police, the girl was alone at her house in Siwaha village in this district Monday when Sukhbir raped her. Her family members had gone to their fields.
“Sukhbir entered the house of the victim and raped her. It has been confirmed in the medical report. After committing the crime, he threatened the victim with dire consequences if she dared to tell anybody about this,” a police officer said here.
“However, the girl narrated the incident to her parents and they approached the police today (Tuesday). We have booked Sukhbir for rape and intimidating the victim. He lives in the same village and we have started our search operation to arrest him,” he added.
