Youth kills girl, commits suicide in Uttar Pradesh
October 5th, 2011 - 9:22 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Oct 5 (IANS) A youth in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh district Wednesday shot his teenaged girlfriend dead and committed suicide after the girl reportedly turned down his marriage proposal, police said.
Taubab (23) killed the 17-year-old girl following a verbal duel, and later shot himself with a country-made pistol in Sihari town. The two died on the spot.
“According to eyewitnesses, the two entered into a heated argument following which Taubab whipped out a pistol and fired at the girl. Within a few seconds, he shot himself,” police inspector Ashish Mishra told reporters in Azamgarh, some 300 km from Lucknow.
“Though the two were having an affair for the last four-five months, the girl recently had expressed her inability to marry Taubab. Probably over the same issue, the two again had a tiff today, and the youth killed the girl before taking the extreme step,” he added.
