New Delhi, July 15 (IANS) A youth killed his father with a hammer after a quarrel over his desire to leave the business and pursue studies in east Delhi. He was arrested Tuesday, the police said. Vipin, 20, a Class 12 pass out, was arrested Tuesday afternoon for killing his father Bhushan Lal, 55, in their Geeta Colony home late Monday. The police have recovered a hammer from the house.

The police said that Bhushan ran a small factory from his house and Vipin was assisting him in the work. But the father and the son often squabbled over Vipin’s desire to leave his business and pursue studies.

“Late Monday they again had the same dispute over the issue, following which Vipin repeatedly attacked on his father’s head with a hammer till he fell unconscious,” said a police official.

Bhushan Lal’s mother and daughter rushed him to the Swami Dayanand Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. The hospital authorities informed the police, who took Vipin into detention.

According to the police, he has confessed to killing his father.

“Vipin in his confession said that he wanted to study more but his father was opposing it. Bhushan Lal wanted him to work him in their factory. He said he was also disturbed as his father often beat up his mother over petty issues,” the police official said.
