April 14th, 2010 - 8:35 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, April 14 (IANS) A youth died under mysterious circumstances in a police picket of Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district Wednesday, police sources said.
Deepak Kumar Soni, 22, was found hanging from the ceiling of the police picket in Monidih locality of Dhanbad coal city.
Deepak was arrested along with two other youths under the Arms Act, police said.
Police officials at the Monidih police picket said he committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling.
Gyasuddin, another inmate, however, told reporters that Deepak was tortured by the police since his arrest. He also charged the police officials with falsely calling it a suicide.
Sanjay Ranjan, the deputy superintendent of police of Dhanbad, said: “We are probing the cause of the death.”
