August 11th, 2011 - 11:51 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, Aug 11 (IANS) The US government has leads on fake universities in the country and is working on the issue, a US official said here Thursday.
“The government is concerned about such cases with young people. Young people are prized possessions of any nation. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has leads on that (fake universities) and I will let my colleagues at the DHS handle it,” said Reta Jo Lewis, special representative for global intergovernmental affairs.
Lewis is in India to work on initiatives to engage Indian states in fields of trade and investment, infrastructure, education, science and technology.
In Mumbai, Lewis met Bank of America’s India chief Kaku Nakhate, AmCham Financial Service Committee chairman and managing director of Goldman Sachs India Sonjoy Chatterjee, Municipal Commissioner of Mumbai Subodh Kumar and other officials.
Lewis is scheduled to visit Nagpur Friday and meet government officials and academicians in the city. She will also interact with students of a city college.
During her two-week visit to India, Lewis travelled to Assam, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Maharashtra to meet chief ministers, business leaders and other officials.
