Worker dies in Ghaziabad factory blast
December 22nd, 2009 - 8:57 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Ghaziabad, Dec 22 (IANS) A worker was Tuesday blown to death and four sustained critical injuries in an explosion at a Ghaziabad factory, police said.
The workers were doing welding work on a tanker in the Rawal Rubber Industries in the Bulandshahr Road industrial area of this suburban town of Delhi.
A side portion of the tanker blew in the air due to the explosion. The flat iron plate of the tanker hit technician Sheetal Kumar.
Kumar was blown into the air and landed about 10 feet away from the site. He died on the spot.
Four of his co-workers, who sustained critical injuries, were rushed to the Sarvodaya Hospital.
Magistrate Umesah Mishra, who visited the spot, said legal action for the lapse in the security measures was being initiated against the factory owner.
