New Delhi, Dec 22 (IANS) India will not resume the composite dialogue with Pakistan until Islamabad prosecutes the conspirators of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and dismantles the infrastructure of terrorism on its territory, Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor said here Tuesday.
“We have seen such terrible indications of how the planning, execution, financing, training and guiding of these killers took place from Pakistani soil. So until that action takes place, we are obviously not in a position to resume the composite dialogue,” Tharoor told reporters, referring to Pakistan’s action against people accused of plotting last year’s terror strikes in Mumbai that killed 166 people.
India has specially asked for strict action against Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafez Sayed, but Pakistan has said that there is not enough evidence for a credible case against him.
He said that Pakistan had arrested seven people, “but we would like to see a vigorous prosecution mounted and we would like others to be caught”.
“Our prime minister has said very clearly ‘you (Pakistan) take the first step, we will reach you more than half-way’. That first step has not been taken,” Tharoor said.
In an interview telecast on CNN-IBN news channel, Pakistani High Commissioner Shahid Malik said that India was not fulfilling its commitments under the Sharm-el-Sheikh joint statement to de-link talks from action against terrorism.
