Women panel seeks report on Delhi scribe’s death
May 3rd, 2010 - 2:31 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, May 3 (IANS) The National Commission for Women (NCW) Monday sought a report from the Jharkhand Police over the alleged killing of Delhi journalist Nirupama Pathak.
“We have sought a detailed report from the Koderma district police about the death of the girl,” said NCW chairperson Girija Vyas.
Vyas said that a case should be sent to a fast track court so that the culprits are punished.
The 23-year-old journalist, who worked with a business daily in New Delhi, was found hanging April 29 at her home in Koderma, about 200 km from Ranchi.
A section of the police suspect she was killed by her family because they did not want her to marry a man of another caste.
