Woman’s body recovered, 7 missing in Orissa boat capsize
May 9th, 2011 - 5:14 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, May 9 (IANS) A woman’s body was fished out Monday at the reservoir in Orissa’s Koraput district where a boat capsized a day earlier, police said. Seven people are still missing.
“The body of a woman has been recovered. Search operation is being conducted by Orissa Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and some volunteers,” Superintendent of Police A.K. Sahu told IANS.
The country boat with 12 people on board capsized Sunday in Kolab reservoir, some 560 km from state capital Bhubaneswar.
The tragedy occurred when the people were on their way from Pujariput village across the reservoir to attend a function at Jolahonja. Four people, including two women, managed to swim back a few hours after the accident.
The missing include four women and two children, Sahu said.
