Woman’s body parts found in Delhi drain (Lead)
July 3rd, 2011 - 11:02 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 3 (IANS) The decomposed body parts of an unidentified woman were Sunday found in a drain in the Vasant Vihar neighbourhood in south Delhi, police said.
Police received an anonymous call around 1.55 p.m. about human body parts in a drain close to Baba Gangnath Mandir in the area.
“The body parts were being eaten by pigs and dogs when we reached the spot. These were highly decomposed. The head was missing and the rest of the body was found in three parts,” a police officer said.
Nailpolish on the hands and toes helped the police conclude that the victim was a woman.
“We have informed all police stations across Delhi and asked for missing women’s lists,” said the official.
The body has been sent for autopsy. “It seems that she was killed and then her body was dumped in the drain,” said the official.
