Jaipur, April 8 (IANS) A 25-year-old woman’s body, parcelled in a wooden box from Delhi, was discovered by a transport company in Rajasthan’s Ajmer district Friday, police said.

Police suspect that the woman was brutally tortured and murdered as there were burn injuries on her face and stab wounds on the body.

“Going by the transportation slip, the body was transported by a company in Delhi to its branch in Kishangarh,” police inspector Narpat Singh said.

“Some foul smell was emanating from the box. The employees of the transport company informed the police,” said the officer.

In the slip, the sender has been identified as ‘B’ and the delivery was to be made to ‘Self’.

“The dispatch date was March 31, so the body is at least a week-old,” the officer added.

Police said it was sheer negligence on the part of the transport company as neither the sender, nor the receiver of the parcel had been properly identified in the transportation slip. Investigations have now been launched.
