London, Jan 25 (IANS) A US woman spent seven days in a car after accidentally driving into a muddy pond — she chose not to seek help because she had been told not to leave the vehicle when stranded.

Lynn Keesler, 61, took a wrong turn while looking for a hotel and drove into the water Jan 15. She finally walked to a nearby house for help Jan 22, the Daily Mail reported.

Keesler told police that she had been trying to find a hotel in Idaho state’s Burley city. She saw a body of water by a dairy factory and thought it was the Snake River as stated in her directions. As she drove around the edge of the pond, the car got stuck in the mud.

The first night the Texas lady was stranded, she flashed her headlights and honked until the car’s battery died.

Kessler survived the entire week by eating peanut butter and drinking bottled water in the car.

But she finally climbed out of the car when the water level in the pond began to rise Sunday, a media report said.
