Woman ’sacrifices’ stepson to bear child
March 3rd, 2011 - 2:20 pm ICT by IANSSaharanpur (Uttar Pradesh), March 3 (IANS) A woman had her 12-year-old stepson killed in Uttar Pradesh after a so-called godman told her it would help her bear a son, police said Thursday.
Young Deepak Kumar was found dead with multiple gashes on his body in the fields of Ramgarh village in Saharanpur district. A piece of flesh was missing from his neck.
Police suspected it was a case ’sacrificial killing’.
“We thought the case was linked to human sacrifice after the post-mortem revealed the flesh was cut off after the victim died,” police inspector B.R. Verma said in Saharanpur, some 500 km from Lucknow.
Police learnt that Kumar’s real mother Amresh had died within weeks after giving him birth, following which his father Sushil Kashyap married Maya.
After the marriage, Kashyap and Maya had six children but none of them survived.
Maya confessed to police that Deepak was hacked to death with her brother’s help on the advice of a godman, said Verma. All three were taken into custody Wednesday evening.
