Woman robbed, fired at in Kerala

Palakkad (Kerala), April 26 (IANS) Two youngsters snatched an elderly woman’s chain and fired at her, injuring her seriously, in Palakkad district of Kerala Saturday. Lakshmi, 63, was admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital at Thrissur, police said.

She was attacked by two youths while she walking alone in Vadakkancheri town.

“The incident happened on a deserted stretch of road. The assailants came in a grey Maruti car. They snatched her chain and fired two rounds at her. The people staying nearby heard the sound of gun fire,” said an official at the Vadakkancheri police station.

Though the police sounded an alert they were yet to trace the assailants or the car.
