Woman rewarded for foiling snatching bid
November 15th, 2011 - 9:34 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Nov 15 (IANS) Delhi Police Tuesday rewarded a woman who chased two teenagers who had snatched her purse and had them arrested too.
Nikhil and Jeetpal Singh, both 19 years old, were caught thanks to the bravery of Krishanganj resident Preeti Singh, said Additional Commissioner of Police V. Renganathan.
Preeti was walking along a street when the two young men riding a motorcycle seized her purse and sped off. Unperturbed, the woman got into an autorickshaw and gave chase.
When the motorcycle halted at a traffic junction near Vishal Cinema due to road congestion, Preeti screamed for help.
Promptly, traffic constables at the site overpowered the youths.
“In appreciation of her bravery, Preeti Singh has been given a cash award of Rs.1,000,” said Renganathan.
