New Delhi, March 27 (IANS) A 35-year-old businesswoman driving a BMW has been arrested for ramming her car into a motorcycle rider and critically injuring him near the Taj Mahal Hotel late Wednesday. The accident occurred at around 10.30 p.m. when Ashana Moga, 35, rammed her BMW car into the motorbike of 42-year-old Shyam Thappa near a traffic circle on Aurangzeb Road.
Ashana’s husband Anil Moga was sitting next to her in the car when the mishap occurred, while Thappa, a sweeper with the Indian Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), was on his way home.
Police said a passerby admitted Thappa to a private nursing home in south Delhi, but he was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after his condition deteriorated. On Thursday his condition was described as critical.
“People, who witnessed the accident, noted down the vehicle registration number of the BMW car and informed the police,” an investigating official told IANS.
“The vehicle was traced and Ashana Moga was arrested. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against her at the Tughlak Road police station,” the official said.
Police said the Mogas live in Kailash Colony and run a real estate business.
