Woman murdered in Punjab, body burnt
January 24th, 2011 - 7:39 pm ICT by IANSPatiala (Punjab), Jan 24 (IANS) A woman was found murdered at her residence in this Punjab town and her house set on fire, police said Monday.Lakhwinder Kaur, 50, was found brutally murdered with a sharp-edged weapon.
Police officials said the house had been later set on fire by the assailants. Her body also got partially burnt, they added.
Neighbours in the upscale Delite Colony area here came to know of the incident Monday morning when they saw smoke coming out of the house.
Her relatives, living on the first floor of the house, did not find anything amiss, the police said.
Patiala is about 70 km from Chandigarh.
