Woman mauled, killed by leopard
March 12th, 2011 - 8:13 pm ICT by IANSBahraich (Uttar Pradesh), March 12 (IANS) A woman was mauled and killed by a leopard near Katarnia Ghat wildlife reserve in this Uttar Pradesh district, bordering Nepal, officials said Saturday.
“The victim, identified as Pushpa, 25, was cutting grass the fields when the leopard stealthily pounced on her and killed her,” Divisional Forest Officer R.K.Singh told IANS.
“This was the seventh strike by a leopard in the area. However, the woman was the first to have been killed by any leopard here,” he added. The others were severely injured.
Bahraich is about 140 km from Lucknow.
