Woman kills kids, self in Uttar Pradesh
June 18th, 2011 - 5:50 pm ICT by IANSAzamgarh (Uttar Pradesh), June 18 (IANS) Apparently disturbed over her poor financial condition, a woman allegedly committed suicide after poisoning her two minor children, police said Saturday.
Sashi Kala, 38, a native of Leharpur village in this district, late Friday first gave poison to her two sons - aged 6 and 10 years - and later consumed the same inside her house.
“All the three died while being taken to hospital. Preliminary investigations indicate the woman took the extreme step owing to poor financial condition,” police Inspector K.K. Singh told reporters in Azamgarh, some 300 km from Lucknow.
“Moreover, we have also learnt that the woman was also being ignored by her husband - a labourer - and in-laws,” he added.
The husband is absconding after the incident, he said.
