Woman kills her baby, eats his flesh
December 29th, 2010 - 9:01 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Dec 29 (IANS) In a shocking incident, a mentally unstable woman killed her newborn baby and ate his flesh in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district, police said Wednesday.The gruesome incident took place in the Civil Lines area. The woman, aged around 30 years, killed her three-day-old baby and ate major portions of his left hand and head.
“Locals called up the police after they noticed the woman eating the flesh of her baby. We are yet to ascertain the identity of the woman. According to locals, for the last five-seven days, the woman was seen moving near the Sai Temple. She gave birth to the baby three days back,” inspector Sanjay Bajpai told reporters in Muzaffarnagar, some 350 km from Lucknow.
“The woman is unable to express herself. It appears she is mentally retarded. We have sent the baby’s body for post-mortem and have admitted the woman to a hospital. Efforts are on to ascertain her identity,” he added.
