R. Gurudatta, a 45-year-old gynecologist, was arrested in Mahasamund district for chopping off the baby’s hands just minutes after he was born.
The victim’s father, Sitaram Nishad, a resident of Pithora area of the district, said in his complaint that his wife Santoshi delivered a boy July 11 at Akal Purakh Hospital under the medical supervision of Gurudatta.
“The child’s father has alleged that the lady doctor handed over the boy to his mother an hour after the delivery saying that she gave birth to a dead child. But the child was alive and had bandages on both his hands which were chopped off,” a police officer said.
