Woman devotee killed in rath yatra stampede
July 13th, 2010 - 5:17 pm ICT by IANSPuri, July 13 (IANS) A woman devotee was killed and two injured in a stampede Tuesday during the Jagannath Rath Yatra festival for which lakhs turned up in this Orissa temple town, police said.
The woman fell in the melee while the chariot of Lord Balabhadra was being pulled by devotees.
She was taken to a local hospital but had already died, doctors said. Two other people were injured and have been hospitalised, Inspector General of Police (Law and order) Arun Sarangi told IANS.
