With Games ticket, take free Metro ride to venue!
July 22nd, 2010 - 1:03 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 21 (IANS) Visitors who have tickets to watch various sporting events during the upcoming Commonwealth Games need not buy tokens for travelling on the Metro as complimentary vouchers will be given with each Games ticket, an official said Wednesday.
“The Commonwealth Games tickets, which are date, venue and event specific, will have two detachable counterfoils for up and down journey by the Metro. These counterfoils will have the same unique serial numbers that will be mentioned on the Games ticket and will be valid for that venue and date only,” a Delhi Metro official said.
“The ticket holder should give the counterfoils to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) volunteers deployed at the entry and exit points of the stations. They will verify the foils by perforating them,” he added.
In addition to the common ticketing facility, DMRC is bringing out a special Commonwealth Games booklet to provide all the necessary information to the commuters during the Games.
“The booklet will have details about the various tourist and shopping attractions of the city along with their metro connectivity. It will also have information about hotels, railway stations and emergency numbers,” the official said.
The Delhi Metro will provide connectivity to 10 out of the 11 venues of the Commonwealth Games 2010. Delhi will host the Games Oct 3-14.
