London, April 30 (IANS) Kate Middleton and Prince William spent their first night as a married couple at the palace where a party to mark their marriage came to a close at 3 a.m. - with some partygoers spotted kissing in the back of taxis as they left the lavish event.
Prince William married Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey. They will now be known Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The guests began to leave the party for 300 family and friends from 11 p.m. onwards with the last departing at 3 a.m.
The newlyweds spent their first night as a couple in one of the suites at the palace, the Daily Mail reported.
Prince William’s younger brother Prince Harry got into a minibus with around a dozen people.
The media report said some partygoers were seen kissing in the back of taxis as the left the lavish late night event.
At the party, Prince Charles quipped about his son going bald.
Not one to shy away from homour, William joked about his father’s waistline.
It was then Prince Harry who cracked a joke on his grandfather the Duke of Edinburgh. He said the Duke would be dwarfed by Kate who stood tall in three-inch heels.
