Wild elephant kills family in Orissa
June 7th, 2011 - 1:22 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, June 7 (IANS) A male wild elephant Tuesday killed a couple and their daughter in Orissa’s Dhenkanal district early Tuesday, an official said.
The victims were identified as Madan Hembram, 35, his wife Suni, 27, and their daughter Simi, 3, divisional forest officer S.K. Dalai told IANS.
The elephant strayed into Thuriasanda village, about 170 kms from here, from the nearby forest and trampled the three while they were sleeping at home, he said.
Madan and Simi died on the spot and Suni succumbed while being taken to hospital, Dalai added.
