Western, coastal Maharashtra jolted
December 12th, 2009 - 8:15 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Mumbai, Dec 12 (IANS) An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale jolted western Maharashtra, coastal Konkan and Mumbai Saturday evening.
There are no immediate reports of damage or casualties, an official said.
The earthquake was recorded at 5.20 p.m. with the epicentre in the Koyna region of western Maharashtra, where the Koyna Dam is situated, an official of the Mumbai Seismological Centre said.
Besides Mumbai, the tremors were felt in Pune, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Satara, Sangli and Kolhapur districts in western and coastal Konkan Maharashtra.
This is the second earthquake to jolt the same region after Nov 14.
