West Bengal chief minister’s security increased
November 4th, 2008 - 9:32 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Nov 4 (IANS) The security cover of Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has been increased after suspected Maoists Sunday ambushed his convoy by triggering a landmine blast, officials said here Tuesday.”We have chalked out a blueprint Tuesday to strengthen the security of the chief minister and other VVIPs. The security will also be technologically upgraded,” Director General of Police Anup Bhushan Vora told reporters here.
Twelve people have been detained for interrogation for the attack, said Inspector General of Police (law and order) Raj Kanojia.
Bhattacharjee and central ministers Ram Vilas Paswan and Jitin Prasada had a narrow escape in the blast that occurred as they were returning from the groundbreaking ceremony of JSW Bengal Steel project in Salboni.
Six policemen in Paswan’s pilot vehicle were injured in the explosion.
