Weapon ‘robbed’ by Tewatia recovered

Noida, July 10 (IANS) The Noida police Sunday said it had recovered a rifle and a carbine allegedly robbed from them by farmer’s leader Manveer Singh Tewatia and his accomplices during the agitation in Bhatta-Parsaul villages against the acquisition of land.

“We shall seek his remand from court on Monday. During interrogation, he confessed that he bought some weapons from the grey market and hid them in Bulandshahr,” Gautam Budh Nagar’s Senior Superintendent of Police Jyoti Narayan said.

Tewatia, who carried a bounty of Rs.50,000, was arrested in Delhi by the Uttar Pradesh Police Saturday. He is wanted for allegedly instigating violence during the protests against land acquisition in Bhatta-Parsaul in Greater Noida in May.
