Watch CWG events live and free of cost! (Lead)
October 8th, 2010 - 8:22 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 8 (IANS) Want to watch a sports event of the Commonwealth Games live and that too free of cost? Then get set for the road races - cycling and walk events- which will kick off Saturday in central Delhi. The Delhi Police Friday issued a traffic advisory restricting movement in the area for the events.
Starting Saturday at 6.30 a.m., the 20 km race walk will traverse Sansad Marg and Rajpath. The men’s race will begin followed by the women’s, which will be participated by 55 athletes — 23 women and 32 men.
The cycling competition will be held Oct 10. As many as 83 women cyclists will be in action from Sansad Marg at 9 a.m. for the 112-km race. This will be followed by the men’s 168-km version at 1 p.m. This line-up will include 167 cyclists.
The two races will begin and end in front of the Free Church on Sansad Marg and will cover Red Cross Road, Rajendra Prasad Marg, Janpath, Rajpath, Vijay Chowk apart from Outer Circus Connaught Place, Barakhamba Road, Bhavabhuti Marg and Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg.
For a hassle-free movement, the advisory said that there will be traffic restrictions on these routes from midnight of Oct 9 to 7 p.m. of Oct 10.
The people in Noida will also get a taste of the Games Oct 13 when 45 athletes will compete in the women’s 29-km Individual Time Trial at 10.30 a.m. on the Noida Expressway. This will be followed by the men’s event at 1 p.m where 83 athletes will be in action.
On Oct 14, the last day of the Games, there will be a marathon beginning at 6.30 a.m. in central Delhi. The 42.195 km circuit, beginning and ending at Sansad Marg, will see 35 athletes in action.
